Yeah, I think this might have been lost when I originally wrote the post. I do have a snooty attitude towards MySpace. The last time I went there, I reached for my air sickness bag. Design-wise, it drives me nuts.

But there are a passionate group of users there. There are lots of lessons to learn from MySpace, maybe not about design, but definitely on how to build community.

However I also had an opportunity to sniff around there recently and I was quite amazed at what a vibrant (and young) community it has there. Also you need to consider that this is where certain things took off: e.g. Arctic Monkeys, where the yoof (for the first time in many years) told the media that a band was cool (and not the other way round).
